DONNELL
Following
employment in the public relations department of Lions
International, Donnell worked for 12 years in the
Chicago office of Edelman Worldwide and 8 years with
Ruder Finn Public Relations. He then opened Donnell
Public Relations which specializes in providing general
public relations, press relations, sports marketing and
podcasting support to a variety of industrial,
professional, association, financial services and public
sector clients.
Mike follows a very results-oriented, fundamental
approach to public relations. Following the development
of a key set of messages
to be conveyed as well as an
analysis of the key audiences to be reached, key
print, broadcast and digital press outlets are
identified as well as direct communications vehicles to
convey the messages to these audiences.
Press relations techniques for most programs include
the pursuit of interviews, by-lined stories, case
histories and round up story placements across a broad
media spectrum that will convey a client’s message to
influential audiences. The mix of media may include
national, regional and local business, trade and
professional, print media, radio and television,
online media, blogs, and podcasts.
An ongoing effort is made to conduct research and stay
abreast of breaking news that may affect clients. Local
and national newspapers, trade and professional
journals, television and radio news broadcasts and
digital media. Extensive use is made of the
Internet to conduct research including visits to the web
sites of magazines, trade associations, corporations and
research organizations.
